Managing Director


Mark Bentley was born and raised in Canada and has 9 years of professional hospitality industry experience including new builds and tropical resorts. He has also excelled in management and leadership roles in aircraft manufacturing, public health, waste and retail management. He brings over 20 years of accounting experience and 30 years of management – all of which were years focused on improving profitability.
Specific to hospitality, Mark’s experience centers largely around the top levels of management. Before joining HSG in mid-2017 he reported to the Vice President of Azul Hospitality management company and the General Manager of the renowned 5-star Koloa Landing Resort – a Marriott Autograph Collection property on Kauai. In addition to serving as the Controller for the resort, Mark was also an integral part of the senior operations team, often working in tandem with the General Manager to manage the resort.
Before joining Azul Hospitality, Mark worked for Atlific Hotels Inc. as Controller and Interim General Manager. His time with Atlific involved positions at the Vancouver Island Convention Centre in Nanaimo, British Columbia (BC), and later at the destination Copper Point Resort in beautiful Invermere, BC. Prior to Atlific, Mark was the Controller at the Best Western Plus in Courtenay, BC.
Mark’s experience brings a deep understanding of Food & Beverage accounting and operations to HSG’s talent pool. Mark spent four years in the Certified General Accountants Association of BC program at the University of Victoria. He is currently studying to obtain a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation.
Since he joined HSG, Mark has focused on providing operational support to our General Managers and restructuring a variety of accounting and operating policies. He led our company’s transition to an accounting and labor cost control system, M3, that will enhance our ability to achieve our continuous improvement goals. This initiative will also give us strong industry benchmarking tools which will enable us to better measure our performance in the industry.
Hotel Services Group, LLC (HSG) currently manages a +$25 MM revenue stream through 8 hotel properties. Mark is currently engaged in the pre-construction planning for 1 pipelined hotel. HSG is certified/approved to manage Hilton, IHG, Best Western and Marriott brands; and stays in touch with industry trends and demands.
Mark’s primary responsibility as Managing Director is to ensure the success of the hotel portfolio and oversee all activities of the organization, including client relations. Mark plans to grow the portfolio as HSG has a growing reputation for finding underserved areas with strong market demand. Mark takes pride in creating career opportunities for like-minded individuals and promotes from within the organization at every opportunity. HSG has an inhouse GM training program that has been very successful with several graduates obtaining General Manager position within and outside of HSG.
Mark is an active member of the Washington Hospitality Association (WHA) and serves as an Officer and Treasurer for its Member Services Corporation (MSC Board) and is a member of the WHA finance committee.
He and his wife, JoAnn, live in Whatcom County and enjoy spending more time with their family in Snohomish County and Vancouver Island after many years living in Hawaii and British Columbia.
